Pair Vintage 50s Starburst Atomic Era Lamp Mid Century Modern Fiberglass Shades
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a super cool pair of vintage table lamps with their original accompanying fiberglass shades. The lamp bases are ceramic, and they both an atomic / starburst theme. The shades are designed to match the bases (see photos). Each ceramic base rests on brass tripod legs.
The lamps each have an on/off toggle switch located at the socket. The lamps do no appear to be signed. They'll make a great addition to any mid century modern, atomic-themed setting! With the shade attached, each measures approx. 20.5" tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the finial) x 12" wide x 12 deep.
The distance from the resting surface to the light socket is approx. The ceramic portion of the base measures approx. 10" tall x 4.25" deep x 4.25 wide. 8 tall, with the top diameter being approx. 11, and the bottom diameter being approx. Condition: Both lamps are in good condition.The ceramic portions of each lamp base are free from chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. The colors are nice on both lamps as well. The brass tripod legs on both lamps are in nice shape - no rust, oxidation, bends, breaks, etc. The fiberglass shades shows a little bit of wear -there are some creases and some light superficial marks on the them (mainly towards the back side). We have not attempted to clean the shades in any manner.
With some tlc, one could most likely work the creases out of the material with a little effort. The wiring appears to be in good shape - there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires. The wiring is two different colors, so one of the lamps may have been re-wired at one point in time by a previous owner.
Both lamps are in fully functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use.
