DESIGNER THREE SHADE ITALIAN LAUREL TREE LAMP! DIMENSIONS : 29 " Tall 15" Wide Base 7 Wide.
This has got to be one of our favorite Laurel Lamp designs! It captures a whimsical modernist line and is truly a posh piece of interior jewelry for mid century living spaces! Gino Sarfatti and the Italian school of lighting design typified by Fontana Arte, Stilux and Stilnovo were enamored with the concept of the multi-shade tree lamp. During the late forties and early fifties, Italian designers gave birth to a rich multitude of designs that were glamorous, efficient at lighting any space and also unlike anything that had been seen before!
This was the future come to life! A slippery line of satin metal in loop-de-loop circles with three spherical shades in the primary colors of red, yellow and blue. Visually, it is magnificent and the design catches the eye whether the lamp is on or off. This was truly a period when a lamp could be a piece of sculpture - and a piece of sculpture a lamp! This lamp is just unbelievably beautiful!
It is in very fine condition with some minor tarnish to the brass base and stem and some wear to the enamel on the shades. The appearance is jewel-like and when lit up becomes a sparkling mid century treasure without peer! This was the sort of lamp you cou ld only find in the interiors of a New Yo rk penthouse o r a Beverly Hills estat e right at the mid point of the last century. It was prohibitively expens ive when new and now is even more ra re and more treasured! An absolutely magnificent a ddit ion to the well decorated interior! The most superb style for your New York Penthouse, Palm Springs Atomic Ranch or Demanding Interior Decor! A GORGEOUS ITALIAN TREASURE FOR THE MOST SPLENDID INTERIORS!
